We bought a Lane recliner 18 months ago. Wood holding the screws for the recline mechanism split.

This is a poor design. The company would only supply the parts for repair.

The furniture store would charge us between $50.00-100.00 dollars for labor cost.

Nice!, That was not in the sales pitch when we purchased the recliner over $650.00

The wood support is a deign flaw, they know it but won't stand behind their product nor will the furniture store. In the end my husband fixed it. Always turn the chair upside down to look at the way the recliner is attached and stay away from Lane.

I have the same problem. The wood split and the mechanism fell through causing the wood to split in the front and pull loose.

The furniture store said there is only a one year warranty and we bought it in Dec 2008.

The fabric still looks good as the chair was not sat in very much so the splintered wood is a big defect. The chair cost too much to just throw it away.
